Great finds to redesign!

Don't you love a bargain and a steal (legal that is!).  Went out to just wash the truck and get a birthday gift for my grandson's and the drawing happened.  It is just like a "pulling" that is so difficult to pass up on.  So in I went and boy was I loaded down when I came out...spending only $10.00.

There I found a fabulous set of lace curtains with 8 pieces to it for only $2.00.  Now who could resist that?  Well, I can't!!  So in the cart they went.  It just kept getting better and better when finally I had to make myself quit.

Anyways, here are a few of my finds...now if I can just find the time to revamp all of my treasures.

Hope all is well for you today!!

God bless!

I need some help identifying this piece.

Don't you just love vintage pieces?  I found this beautiful sheer floral cover a few months back but am just really not sure if it is a bed cover, canopy cover, or tablecloth??  I can see it used for any of these, but I would really like to know for sure.

It is quite large and will easily fit a twin size bed.  The floral detail is wonderful and the piece has a large ruffled border all the way around it.  I know it's not a duvet as there is no "pocket".  So I am hoping that someone will pick up my blog soon and let me know what they think!!

I'm thinking of putting up an old iron daybed and am thinking of using it...........what do you think?

Now this is Grandma's ray of sunshine!

This little cutie is the big brother to Gabriel and his birthday was this past Sunday, turning a "big boy" of 4 years old.  Tears at my heart that he is getting so big and makes me so proud.  We will be celebrating a joint birthday party for them on Sunday so it will be party time again!  Oh yeah, and their dad's birthday was today!!  Oh boy...three back to back...Poor Suz!

My Sweet Baby Gabriel

Isn't this just the sweetest face?!!  Gabriel turned one this past Tuesday and today got to experience his first trip to the hospital to have tubes put in his ears and adnoids removed.  I haven't been able to see him since I work all day, but I hear he's doing pretty well.  Suzanne said he was napping without snoring so hopefully he will be starting to sleep all through the night.  Grandma loves you!!

A Simple Introduction

.Several years ago I started to really delve into my family's history and as I found letters and pictures, memories of the lives now long gone began to flood my heart.

With those memories, I started to take note of pieces in my grandparents home that I loved so much as a child because they were a constant to me.  Glassware that we always used at one grandma's home and something totally different at the others homes. Some of these pieces I have managed to collect through the years and some I still look for.  Why bother?  Because sometimes those memories are all you have to hold on to.  Because it's the memories that remind us of where we came from and a sense of belonging somewhere in time.

Life has a way of getting away from us and before we know it, we wake up to find we are at the mid-century level, which is where I find myself today.  Today, I took a step of faith in myself...to reach out in a crazy world and hopefully catch hold of like-minded people.  That maybe in my travel through this life, I can find a little bit of the past for you. Maybe I have found that one special piece you remember from a time that has quickly past for you, too.

I have been blessed to live the life I have, though not always great, always a new journey on the horizon.  Our children need the same opportunity to create long lasting memories.  It isn't in a gameboy or whatever is out there right now, but it is the moments we can spend with them.  Children are smart and they are always watching...always recording.  I believe we need to bring the past into their present for their future memories.  Create an atmosphere like the one created for us so many years ago so that when our grandchildren are older, they will be able to look back with their own memories, and possibly take a walk down "the long road home".

Thank you so much for stopping in and it is my hope you will find something here among my many "rattlings" and the pieces I add as I take my journey back in time.  Maybe it will give you a strong desire to remember the good things of your past.

OMG

Peggy's Country Cottage is not exactly ready for print!!

This is not a good start...........how this published without being completed I have no idea, but if you will be patient with me, I will be up and running soon.  I'm such a novice at this, I think I'm making it more difficult than it needs to be. But if you will come back, we can sit with a cup of coffee or tea and visit for a while. (And if anyone can help...........I can sure use it!!)
